Investigators from the Division of House Affairs, assisted by the South African Police Provider (SAPS), this morning detained Ms Anabela Rungo, the mom of Ms Chidimma Adetshina, at a property in Cape City. The Division withdrew Ms Rungo’s South African documentation in September 2024 after finding that it had been fraudulently obtained, rendering her ineligible to continue residing in South Africa.
In an obvious act of brazen brush apart for the correct penalties of her conduct, it appears that evidently Ms Rungo has defied her “undesirable” situation thru her Mozambican passport. Investigations are ongoing into additional possible misrepresentation and faux conduct.
During the operation this morning, investigators from the Counter Corruption and Immigration Services and products branches of the Division also realized Adetshina’s below-extinct child residing with Rungo.
After being processed by House Affairs over her obvious illegal continued declare in South Africa, Ms Rungo will be handed over to the SAPS as she shall be the topic of an ongoing investigation by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation.
House Affairs is additional liaising with the Division of Social Construction and SAPS Child Protection Unit because it relates to protecting the interests of the below-age child.
The Division will present additional updates at opportune moments.
No interviews will be taken on this matter at this stage.
