The Wellcome Trust Foundation is funding this three-year pathfinder project to increase the application of data science in Africa. Large volumes of health data are produced in many African nations, and it should be possible to use recent developments in data analysis techniques, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, across national boundaries. The project’s main goals are to increase national teams’ machine learning capabilities and to develop and enhance data analytics expertise utilizing powerful AI tools. The initiative will be coordinated in Nairobi, Kenya, and carried out in Senegal, Ethiopia, and Cameroon where the project is located at the Douala General Hospital (DGH).

JOB SUMMARY
In order to support the project in Cameroon, the DSWB-DGH team is looking to hire a Project co-ordinator. Planning, directing, and coordinating project activities in Cameroon would fall under his purview.

PROJECT COORDINATOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and budgets using project management tools.Track project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and propose solutions for any deviations from the plan.Coordinate meetings, workshops, and communication among project team members and stakeholders.Prepare and distribute project status reports for the PI, team, and external funding agencies.Assist researchers with data collection procedures and quality control measures.Maintain data management systems and documentation according to best practices.Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessaryFacilitate communication and collaboration between data providers, analysts, and researchers.Contribute to the development and implementation of data cleaning and validation protocols.Maintain clear and concise communication with all project stakeholders.Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, and presentations as needed.Draft correspondence related to the project, such as emails and reports.Contribute to the design or develop research protocolsDevelop assessment and evaluation toolsSummarize project resultsCreate presentation slides and posters to help researchers present findingsREQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education
PhD (Public health, biostatistics), Medical Doctor, EpidemiologyMasters in biostatistics, Epidemiology or any related fieldWorking experienceAt least 3-5 to years of experience as Project co-ordinator in a research projectPrior experience in article writing and submitting in peer review journals is an added advantage.Languages
English and French are the working languages for the project.Fluency in oral and written English will be a major advantageAdditional skillsSelf-directed and able to work independently and collaboratively with colleaguesAbility to multitask, prioritize, work under pressure, and manage time efficientlyExcellent teamwork and coordination skills.Good computing skills, Excel, Word, PowerPointASSESSMENTSelection of qualified candidates will include an initial review of the CVs of applicants, followed by an interview of pre-selected candidates and a verification of professional references.HOW TO APPLY
