The staff of Otakon announced over the past week that this year’s match will host the following guests:
- Teach actor Miyuri Shimabukuro (Carole & Tuesday), animation director Shinya Watada (Mobile Swimsuit Gundam AGE: Memory of Eden), producer Hidetake Nishigaya (The Idaten Deities Know Finest Peace, Mononogatari) from the Rock is a Lady’s Modesty anime.
- Director Hiroaki Sakurai (Cyber Team in Akihabara: The Film, UFO Baby) and producer at FuRyu Photographs Kanako Ayano (Yuru Camp The Film, Kinokoinu) will appear to promote
the upcoming The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess anime. Sakurai beforehand attended the match as a visitor in 2000. - Teach actress, manga artist, and VTuber Sora Tokui (Weiß Survive R, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes). She voiced the character of Nico Yazawa from the Fancy Are living! series. She launched the Makeruna!! Aku no Gundan! manga in September 2013.
- Teach actor Shūichirō Umeda (Too Many Shedding Heroines! My Hero Academia: Vigilantes). He is voicing Hikaru in The Summer Hikaru Died and Naoto Watari in Watari-kun’s ****** Is About to Collapse.
Otakon 2025 is scheduled for August 8-10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The match will also host allege actors Nobutoshi Canna, Ryōko Shiraishi, Ayana Taketatsu, Kanna Nakamura, Taishi Murata, and Ryōta Takeuchi; Maho Film animation producer Yūki Mukai; manga artists Chika Mizube, Minoji Kurata, and Sai Naekawa; manga editor Takumi Kamemaru; illustrator CHRIS; character designer and animation director Hidenori Matsubara; author and composer Taketeru Sunamori; J-pop singer MindaRyn; A-1 Photographs‘ director Shōtarō Kitamura and production manager Yūtarō Itō; and the creative team at the back of the Too Many Shedding Heroines! gentle novels. This will host allege actor Katsuyuki Konishi and Studio Trigger staff members Hiroki Arai, Hiromi Wakabayashi, and Sushio.
The match will host the U.S. premiere of the first episode of the television anime of Sai Naekawa‘s This Monster Wants to Eat Me (Watashi o Tabetai, Hito de nashi) manga on August 8. Manga creator Sai Naekawa, manga editor Takumi Kamemaru, and anime producer Ena Hamabe will attend the convention and host a talk about the manga and anime.
Last year’s match took place in August 2024 and reached 46,000 attendants, environment a recent file.
