The Ministry of Wisely being of the Republic of Uganda in collaboration with the World Wisely being Group ( WHO) and partners continue to scale up response efforts to contain the fresh Ebola outbreak. WHO continues to deploy additional serious resources in help of the Ugandan govt’s against the Sudan virus disease outbreak. Following an initial USD$1 million allocation in January, WHO is releasing an additional USD$2 million from its Contingency Fund for Emergencies to present a enhance to response activities, including coordination, surveillance, laboratory help, infection prevention and repair a watch on in hospitals and treatment centres, logistics, possibility communication and community engagement and research.

“To additional help Uganda’s response to the Ebola outbreak, I am releasing an additional $2 million from the WHO Contingency Fund for Emergencies,” acknowledged Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “Our groups are on the bottom working with Ministry of Wisely being and other partners to curb the spread of the virus.”

Uganda confirmed the outbreak of Sudan Ebola virus disease on 30 January 2025 after a laboratory prognosis in a affected person from Kampala. Since then, the Ministry of Wisely being has reported nine confirmed instances, including one dying. Seven patients are receiving treatment at Mulago Nationwide Referral Hospital, whereas one is being treated at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital. There has been no original confirmed case of Ebola reported since the last case that was as soon as confirmed on 8 February 2025. “To contain the spread of the virus, we now maintain got intensified surveillance, reinforced possibility communication, and enhanced community engagement,” acknowledged Dr Kasonde Mwinga, WHO Representative to Uganda.

Sudan virus disease, precipitated by the Orthoebolavirus Sudanese (Sudan virus), is a severe and usually fatal illness with case fatality rates ranging from 41% to 100%. Uganda has had seven old outbreaks, with basically the most latest occurring in 2022.
