Uganda: France Invests Shs 1.12 Billion to Boost French Language Training in Uganda

Kampala — The French executive launched a main initiative to reinforce French language education at some point of Uganda. The 2-one year, Shs 1.12 billion project, identified because the French Training Framework (FEF), targets to toughen acquire admission to to quality French education for varsity students, lecturers, and colleges nationwide.

The Embassy of France in Uganda, in collaboration with Alliance Française de Kampala (AFK) and the Association of Lecturers of French in Uganda (APFO), is spearheading this ambitious effort. Key activities include college visits, language camps, instructor training, and the design of tailored learning sources.

AFK is at the moment visiting 20 colleges at some point of Uganda that offer French language packages. Fifteen of these colleges will obtain genuine certification recognizing their grand French language education. Schools like Kitante SS, Seeta High College, Arua Public SS, and Mvara SS in the West Nile situation bear already been visited, with more to be aware.

“Roughly 400 college students bear already benefited from these activities, and I’m proud to train that half of of them had been girls, underscoring our dedication to inclusion and gender equality, talked about Pauline Dinet, Head of Programs at AFK.

These visits intention to inspire college students by means of interactions with native French audio system and to toughen lecturers by introducing innovative teaching methodologies.

Eric Touze, representing Alliance Française de Kampala, expressed optimism concerning the project’s affect.

“This project will not only increase the number of French speakers in Uganda but also inspire a new generation of educators and learners. We are laying the foundation for a future where French is an integral part of Uganda’s education system.”

The FEF Undertaking locations an spectacular emphasis on legitimate pattern for lecturers. Training packages are being rolled out to equip French language educators with new teaching ideas and familiarize them with Uganda’s original nationwide French curriculum.

Touze highlighted the importance of instructor training as a foundation of the initiative.

“The goal is to train educators, who in turn will train their colleagues, creating a ripple effect of knowledge and skill-sharing.”

To extra reinforce learning, AFK launched a podcast, “French Language in Uganda,” on hand on YouTube. The podcast covers loads of topics, including the advantages of learning French, certification choices, and alternatives for studying in France.

APFO is organizing immersive language camps, identified as CALUFU, to interact younger newcomers in fun, interactive French activities. These camps intention to form a vibrant community of French- speaking formative years in Uganda.

Agatha Tumwine, President of the Association of Lecturers of French in Uganda, emphasised that each one French lecturers are required to participate in training classes underneath this project.

Tumwine confirmed that some training classes bear already taken situation.

She also highlighted the group of CALUFU (French Language Camps for Youths), which offers college students per week-lengthy immersive French skills by means of a combination of language learning and fun activities.

“French language camps, holiday camps for secondary school students, are a key part of this project. We are aiming to conduct five such camps,” Tumwine explained.

Additionally, APFO plans to obtain learning sources tailored particularly for the Ugandan context by 2025 to be certain that that the sustainability of French education.
