Grassland Cameroon is a food storage, drying, and distribution company that sources products from smallholder farmers, whom we support during the season with input loans and training, so that they can be more productive. We transform the farmers’ produce into standardized, graded products that we sell across West and Central Africa, to buyers who can be sure of the quality they receive. We are looking for an experienced farm field agent, who will support our farmer-outgrower program by training farmers, executing production planning schedules, & monitoring production throughout the season.
The job will involve significant travel in rural farmlands, communication and production management. The field agent will receive supervision from our Operations Supervisor & Program Associate. This is a field-oriented position. We are looking for someone with significant farm
management experience, who can easily adapt to various working environments. This role would require significant travel within the Center region and to other production zones.
Your responsibilities will include;
Plan and execute weekly visits to farmsOversee input distribution and storage to farmer groups.Follow up on farmers/farmer groups to ensure successful repayments of credit in the form of expected grain quantity.Control production activities (e.g. Tilling, planting, weeding, harvesting, Shelling)Provide first-hand advice to farmers with assistance from Agronomists.Organize farmer training sessions in collaboration with the operations teamProvide weekly reports on the progress of production activities done on the farmsHelp present end-of-season evaluations to farmer groups.Assist in group meetings, providing any information from GLC and recording any issues/suggestions regarding the program.Act as a warehouse keeper, responsible for managing and distributing farming inputs to farmers and ensuring that the stock is well accounted for.Qualifications
At least three years of professional work experience (experience in rural development or farm management);A demonstrated ability to work on a variety of tasks at the same time, and keep track of a variety of work-streams;Passionate about farm management with demonstrated experience of working in rural communities.Good work ethicCan use a smartphone.Fluency in French (Pidgin & English is a plus)Must have a permit to drive motorbikes, and preferably own his bikeIf you think this is for you, we are excited to hear from you.
