QUARRY MANAGER / RESPONSABLE CARRIERE

As part of a project based in a rural area in the Grand North Region, we are seeking a Quarry Manager who will be responsible for managing the quarry that supplies raw materials to the plant.
MAIN DUTIES
To build, develop, lead and manage a motivated quarry team for the comprehensive extractionProcessing and supply of raw materials for planting with optimum quality, quantity and cost for the development of mines/quarries for future works and rehabilitationsComply with company regulations and legal guidelines.Implement the strategy for extraction and preparation of raw materials/mineral components balancing costs, volumes, quality, safety, environmental impact and lifespan of deposits.
RESPONSABILITIES
SAFETY
Lead the implementation of SHE policies, principles and directives.Ensure compliance with SHE Responsibilities Statement.Promote a safe system of work and a strong safety culture in the workplace. Comply with all relevant safety, health and environment legislation. Provision of relevant site induction programsManagement of the SHE system.Communicate safety performance (lead and lag indicators) regularly to workforce.
LEADERSHIP , PEOPLE & DEVELOPMENT
Lead quarry team.Provide a safe and supportive workplaceRecruit and develop a highly focused and motivated teamEnsure all employees are adequately inducted and trained.Prepare succession plans for key positionsManage contractors on-site.Manage and improve the performance of the quarrying and crushing crewensuring competencies and skills development to prepare successors.
QUARRY GOVERNANCE & PLANNING
Keep constant contact with the relevant external authorities and stakeholders to obtain all statutory clearances and ensure future sources of supply of raw materialsManage location of extraction, layout, stripping, dewatering and waste disposal strictly in accordance with staged development plans to optimise production and efficient use of resources.Site development in line with the Quarry Development Plan.Monitor all development consent conditions to achieve full compliance, including provision of statutory reporting.Manage site rehabilitation in accordance with approved plan.Set up, together with plant stakeholders, the quality and quantity targets of raw materials and mineral components to be delivered to the plant.Active management of legal boundaries (e.g. mining rights, land ownership, permitting, buffer zones, no go areas, properties and land acquisition) in cooperation with others departmentParticipate to raw material investigations and deposit evaluation with local third parties, gathering of specific data, reporting potentials and threats.Support the company in preparing and implementing long term and short term plans for quarry development ensuring future availability of raw materials and ongoing effective mine operations.Deliver on a yearly base the required resources and reserves documentation and dataIdentify potentials of improvement in term of performance and raw material sourcing.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Education: Minimum Graduate/University degree in mining or geology
Certification: Drilling and Blasting (BlastMan Certification) / R&R Competent person certification
Years of experience: 3 -5 years experience in quarry operation
Specifics competences:
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office SuiteMaps (Surfer, GIS etc) Exploration (Grapher, Strater, Logs etc) Modelling (Leapfrog, QSO) and QO (QM, Optimix, etc)Define an OHS roadmap for the area of responsibility and ensure alignment of OHS activities arising from OpCo’s OHS mission.Ensure that relevant measures are taken to ensure that OHS requirements are met.Actively manages risks by ensuring that all associated control activities are implemented thoroughly.Lead committed and effective incident management.Knowledge of geologyHigh degree of autonomy, a sense of responsibility, and team leadership skillsKeen observation skills and analytical thinkingInitiative, rigor, and organizational skillsStrong communication skills and a results-oriented mindset
