The prolonged-awaited National Convention, which paves the methodology for the National Dialogue, has kicked off this morning at the College of South Africa (Unisa) in Pretoria.
The 2-day National Convention, in which stakeholders and representatives from all quarters of society will participate, targets to outline and agree on key subject matters for the National Dialogue. The National Dialogue has been described by the Presidency as a name to action for citizens to manual an inclusive dialogue on the challenges facing the country.
The Convention is also intended to agree on the methodology and modalities for the nationwide public dialogues at sectoral and community stage. It’s going to also outline and agree on the predominant subject matters for discussion in the National Dialogue and attach a Steering Committee.
The Convention brings collectively representatives from executive, political events, civil society, business, labour, ragged leaders, non secular leaders, cultural staff, sports organisations, females, adolescence and community voices, amongst others, to chart a technique forward for the commencement of the National Dialogue.
In preparation for the predominant National Convention of the National Dialogue assignment, President Cyril Ramaphosa met with representatives of the interim Preparatory Process Group (PTT) on 7 August 2025.

The duty team has been given the accountability of organising the convention and preparing for the overall public dialogues that can take space thereafter.
Since April 2025, a Preparatory Process Group has been liable for preparing for the predominant National Convention.
It was once established as an interim construction pending the establishment of a broadly inclusive Steering Committee representing all sectors. It has been quiet of members of the foundations of fight stalwarts and representatives of the President.
