Sports Mole previews Monday’s Brasileiro clash between Santos and Juventude, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
In search of their first away victory in the 2025 Brasileiro Serie A season, Juventude will pay a visit to MorumBIS on Monday for a date with Santos.
Both sides are currently in the relegation zone, with the hosts playing to a 2-2 draw versus Sport Recife in the final weekend of July, putting them in 17th, four points above Juve, who lost their previous match 3-0 at Bahia.
Match preview
Leaving it late has become a trademark of Santos throughout the 2025 campaign, but in recent weeks, this side have come on a little too late, costing them points.
Last Saturday, they scored twice in the final 11 minutes to rescue a point but extended their winless run in the Brazilian top flight to three matches.
On one hand, Santos have scored seven league goals beyond the 70th minute domestically this year but have also conceded 11 times at or after that, including four in second-half stoppage time.
After 17 league encounters, Cleber Xavier’s men are in the final relegation position, below Vasco da Gama on goal difference, while only two points currently separate them from Vitoria for 15th.
They have failed to win four of their last five matches in this competition, netting a goal or fewer in each of those particular encounters.
Monday will be the 12th time they host Juventude in a competitive game and Peixe have yet to lose to them, claiming a 4-1 triumph in their previous Serie A home fixture against Alviverde in 2022.
A 2-0 triumph over Sport Recife in mid-July appears to have been just a minor boost for Juve, who are in a familiar position near the bottom of the Serie A table.
Since that match, this side have returned to their old familiar habits, losing three successive league contests, without a single goal scored over that stretch.
Another defeat for this side on Monday would surpass their longest losing run in the Brazilian top flight from the 2024 campaign, losing at most three straight on that occasion.
Claudio Tencati has a big task on his hands, to reverse their away fortunes in this competition as the club from Caixas do Sul have lost all seven of their Serie A matches as the visitors this year by a combined margin of 24-1.
The odd time when they have drawn first blood, it has usually gone well for Juventude, who have points in three of their four 2025 league contests when doing so.
It has been nearly four years since Alviverde beat Santos in a Serie A affair, earning a 3-0 home victory against them in September 2021.

Team News
A calf strain kept Willian Arao out of the Santos fold against Recife last week, Guilherme was sidelined with an ankle issue and Tomas Rincon will miss this match through suspension following his straight red card in the latter stages of the opening half.
Gabriel Morales Silva Bontempo and Joao Basso found the back of the net in the latter stages of that contest, enabling them to claim at least a point away from home for only the second time in this competition.
Meanwhile, Juventude were missing Rafael Bilu versus Bahia due to a sore knee, while Rodrigo Sam was sidelined because of a bone bruise that he sustained last month.
Hudson will be forced out of this upcoming match after the man on loan from Portuguesa was given a straight red card with 13 minutes remaining last weekend.
Santos possible starting lineup:
Brazao; Vinicius, Basso, Peres, Souza; Rollheiser, Bontempo, Schmidt, Barreal; Soares, Neymar
Juventude possible starting lineup:
Gustavo; Reginaldo, Abner, Angel, Felipe, Hermes; Ewerthon, Jadson, Mandaca, Veron; Taliari
We say: Santos 2-0 Juventude
The away record for Juventude speaks for itself, and even against a struggling Santos side, we believe the home team will dominate and find a breakthrough given the kind of experience they boast in the attacking third.
