Sports Mole previews Thursday’s Conference League clash between UNA Strassen and Dundee United, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
UNA Strassen will aim to overturn a 1-0 first-leg defeat when they take on Dundee United on Thursday in the second leg of their second qualifying round tie in the Conference League.
The hosts were second best in the first leg meeting in Scotland, but everything is still to play for having only suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat.
Match preview
UNA Strassen enjoyed a fantastic 2024-25 campaign in the Luxembourg National Division as they recorded a second-placed finish – their highest ever in the top-flight.
That position secured their qualification into the second qualifying round for the Conference League, where they were drawn against Dundee United.
A frustrating pre-season saw UNA Strassen fail to win any of their four friendly fixtures, with two defeats and two draws, and that streak continued into their opening competitive match of the 2025-26 campaign.
Travelling to Tannadice Park for their first leg encounter with Dundee Utd, UNA Strassen were second best for much of the encounter – highlighted by taking only five shots to Dundee Utd’s 13 – but they managed to escape with a narrow 1-0 defeat.
That leaves everything still to play for as they return to their home ground, and UNA Strassen will be eager to maintain their four-game winning run at home in competitive competition.
However, Dundee Utd will be extremely confident of securing the aggregate victory and moving into the next round, especially after their dominant performance in the first leg.
The Tangerines secured their place in the Conference League qualifying rounds after a superb fourth-placed finish in their first year back in the Scottish Premiership last term.
Jim Goodwin‘s men similarly had an underwhelming pre-season, with one win, three draws and one defeat, but they started the 2025-26 season with a commanding performance in the 1-0 first leg victory.
Dundee Utd will now be aiming to solidify that lead and move one step closer to the Conference League league phase, looking to book their place in European competition for the first time since their UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup appearance in 1994-95.

Team News
UNA Strassen may have suffered defeat to Dundee Utd in their first leg encounter, but with several encouraging signs in that narrow loss, a similar side may appear here.
An unchanged back five is expected after conceding just once to the Tangerines, meaning Eric Brandenburger, Ricardo Delgado, Denis Agovic, Tim Hall and Daryl Myre should start.
As for Dundee United, new signing Zac Sapsford scored the winning goal on his debut in the first leg, and the striker should lead the line once again on Thursday.
Elsewhere, Jim Goodwin may decide to name a largely unchanged starting team to the one that secured their first-leg victory, though Craig Sibbald or Panutche Camara may compete to come into the first 11.
UNA Strassen possible starting lineup:
Ozcan; Brandenburger, Delgado, D Agovic, Hall, Myre; Pimental, Vova, E Agovic; Souza, Hadji
Dundee United possible starting lineup:
Kucherenko; Iovu, Esselink, Keresztes; Strain, Sevelj, Camara, Ferry; Dolcek, Sapsford, Trapanovski
We say: UNA Strassen 0-2 Dundee United
Dundee United were dominant in the first leg encounter, and while UNA Strassen will be hopeful of making use of their home advantage, we expect a similar outcome with the Tangerines taking the victory.
