Burkina Faso’s military leader focuses on economic autonomy

Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who has led Burkina Faso since a 2022 coup, is focusing on economic autonomy to decrease reliance on abroad aid and harness interior sources. 

This system,  aligned with the Alliance of Sahel States alongside Mali and Niger, displays a push for economic sovereignty. 

“This mannequin relies mostly on leveraging interior sources. It has enabled the head of command and his government to prioritise agriculture.
