Burnley will attempt to extend their 20-game unbeaten run in all competitions when they welcome Hull City to Turf Moor for Wednesday’s Championship fixture.

The Clarets are sitting three points adrift of the top two in third position, while the Tigers are languishing in 21st place in the Championship table.

Burnley head into Wednesday’s match off the back of an impressive run of results, having won 12 and drawn eight of their last 20 competitive matches since losing to Millwall on November 3.

They recorded one of those 12 victories in Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Southampton, with Marcus Edwards‘s first Burnley goal proving enough to seal a 1-0 win at St Mary’s.

As a result of another strong defensive display, Scott Parker‘s side have now kept 10 shutouts in their last 11 matches in competitions.

The Clarets last conceded a goal in January’s FA Cup tie against Reading, but they have not conceded in the Championship since beating Watford 2-1 on December 21, meaning that they have the chance to record a 10th consecutive league clean sheet in Wednesday’s meeting with Hull.

Burnley are one of two teams yet to lose a Championship home game this season, although they have had to settle for draws in three of their last four league outings at Turf Moor.

They have also experienced their fair share of draws in recent meetings with Wednesday’s opponents, having won two and drawn four of their previous six head-to-head matches.

Hull are hovering just outside of the drop zone after winning seven, drawing eight and losing 15 of their 30 Championship matches this season.

The Tigers suffered the most recent of those 15 defeats in Saturday’s home clash with Stoke City despite taking an early lead through Eliot Matazo.

Ali Al-Hamadi cancelled out Matazo’s sixth-minute effort, before Andrew Moran found the net in the 74th minute to condemn Hull to a narrow 2-1 defeat, extending their winless home run to four league matches (D1, L3).

While they are yet to win a home game in 2025, the Tigers have enjoyed success on their travels in recent times, having recorded three consecutive Championship away wins without conceding against Blackburn, Millwall and Sheffield United.

As a result of those successful road trips, Hull now have the chance to record four successive away league wins without conceding for the first time in their history.

However, they will be aware that taking all three points from Wednesday’s fixture will be a difficult task, especially as they have won just two of their previous 14 away league games against the Clarets.

Team News

Burnley are unable to call upon the injured trio of Mike Tresor, Aaron Ramsey and Jordan Beyer, while it remains to be seen whether Josh Brownhill and Luca Koleosho will be ready in time for the home clash.

After making wholesale changes at the weekend, Parker is expected to recall the likes of James Trafford, Connor Roberts, Maxime Esteve, Josh Cullen and Josh Laurent.

Jaidon Anthony, Lyle Foster and Zian Flemming are set to return to Burnley’s attacking ranks for the midweek fixture.

Nathan Redmond could also provide a useful option off the bench after returning from injury to make a late substitute appearance in Saturday’s meeting with his former club Southampton.

As for the visitors, they are without the services of Charlie Hughes, Kasey Palmer, Mohamed Belloumi and Liam Miller.

Cody Drameh is a doubt after he picked up a knee issue at the weekend, while January addition Lincoln is also hoping to prove his fitness for the away trip.

Defender John Egan could make his Hull debut against his former club after arriving from Burnley on transfer deadline day.

Lewis Coyle, Kyle Joseph and Louie Barry could all come into the lineup, with the latter hoping to make his first start for the club.

Burnley possible starting lineup:
Trafford; Roberts, Egan-Riley, Esteve, Humphreys; Cullen, Laurent; Anthony, Mejbri, Foster; Flemming

Hull City possible starting lineup:
Pandur; Coyle, Egan, Jones, Jacob; Slater, Alzate; Gelhardt, Matazo, Barry; Joseph

We say: Burnley 1-0 Hull City

Burnley using their strong defence as the foundation of their promotion push, and we think that they will produce another resolute display to negate Hull’s attacking threat, while we also believe they will do enough at the opposite end of the pitch to claim all three points.
