Uganda: France Invests Shs 1.12 Billion to Increase French Language Training in Uganda

Kampala — The French government launched a vital initiative to strengthen French language training during Uganda. The two-twelve months, Shs 1.12 billion challenge, is named the French Training Framework (FEF), objectives to improve access to quality French training for varsity students, lecturers, and colleges nationwide.

The Embassy of France in Uganda, in collaboration with Alliance Française de Kampala (AFK) and the Affiliation of Lecturers of French in Uganda (APFO), is spearheading this audacious effort. Key actions include college visits, language camps, teacher training, and the come of tailored learning resources.

AFK is in the intervening time visiting 20 colleges during Uganda that provide French language capabilities. Fifteen of these colleges will receive reliable certification recognizing their distinctive French language training. Schools like Kitante SS, Seeta Excessive College, Arua Public SS, and Mvara SS in the West Nile space indulge in already been visited, with extra to train.

“Roughly 400 students indulge in already benefited from these actions, and I’m proud to suppose that half of them were ladies, underscoring our dedication to inclusion and gender equality, said Pauline Dinet, Head of Applications at AFK.

These visits perform to inspire students through interactions with native French speakers and to abet lecturers by introducing innovative teaching methodologies.

Eric Touze, representing Alliance Française de Kampala, expressed optimism about the challenge’s affect.

“This project will not only increase the number of French speakers in Uganda but also inspire a new generation of educators and learners. We are laying the foundation for a future where French is an integral part of Uganda’s education system.”

The FEF Venture locations a solid emphasis on reliable building for lecturers. Training capabilities are being rolled out to equip French language educators with contemporary teaching suggestions and familiarize them with Uganda’s recent nationwide French curriculum.

Touze highlighted the importance of teacher training as a basis of the initiative.

“The goal is to train educators, who in turn will train their colleagues, creating a ripple effect of knowledge and skill-sharing.”

To extra strengthen learning, AFK launched a podcast, “French Language in Uganda,” available in the market on YouTube. The podcast covers a quantity of topics, including the benefits of learning French, certification alternatives, and alternatives for studying in France.

APFO is organizing immersive language camps, is named CALUFU, to have interaction young novices in enjoyable, interactive French actions. These camps perform to build a shiny neighborhood of French- speaking childhood in Uganda.

Agatha Tumwine, President of the Affiliation of Lecturers of French in Uganda, emphasized that all French lecturers are required to take half in training classes beneath this challenge.

Tumwine confirmed that some training classes indulge in already taken obtain.

She also highlighted the group of CALUFU (French Language Camps for Youths), which supplies students per week-long immersive French experience through a combination of language learning and enjoyable actions.

“French language camps, holiday camps for secondary school students, are a key part of this project. We are aiming to conduct five such camps,” Tumwine explained.

Moreover, APFO plans to gain learning resources tailored particularly for the Ugandan context by 2025 to be positive the sustainability of French training.
