Job Title: Data & Survey Research Associate
headquartered in Yaoundé, Cameroon, which serves the West and Central Africa
region. We bring together a multidisciplinary team of English and French
speaking researchers who combine innovative thinking and rigorous approaches
with the ability to think globally, and the expertise to act local. Regional
and global consultants, some connected to universities, complement our team.
We currently have a USAID-funded project office in Niamey, Niger, and a Data
Unit satellite office in Parakou, Benin.

strengthening, and Social and behavior change (SBC) research. Our priority
focus areas include Reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent
health (RMNCAH); Maternal, infant and young child nutrition (MIYCN); Malaria
and infectious diseases; Humanitarian/vulnerable context; and Support to
service delivery.
Data & Survey Research Associate. The successful candidates will have
demonstrated technical and leadership capabilities in quantitative research
and evaluation design, survey design and implementation including electronic
data collection, data management and analysis, training and capacity building,
and publications and research utilization, in topical areas including family
planning and reproductive health (FP/RH), maternal, newborn and child health
(MNCH), nutrition and food security, and malaria and infectious diseases. The
positions require flexibility, strong organizational skills, and willingness
to work under pressure, and involves both local and international
travels.
Grow EVIHDAF’s capabilities in survey research and data management by
attracting new projects from a variety of donors/partners, for a variety
of topics (RMNCAH, MIYCN, …), and in a set of priority countries.
Conduct or oversee quantitative data collection and in-depth analysis
under our ongoing projects.
Produce scientific publications and give presentations at conferences as a
means of disseminating research results.
Contribute to research utilization efforts.
Contribute to work plans, monitor their execution, and refine as
needed.
Support proposal development research proposals.
Basic qualifications
PhD in economics, statistics, demography, the social sciences, or a
related field.
At least five (5) years of experience in survey research in the areas of
FP/RH, MNCH, Nutrition and related fields.
Proven experience in the design and implementation of a variety of
quantitative research activities (operations research, implementation
research, evaluation research, etc.), including data analysis, reporting
and dissemination.
Demonstrated experience in survey research key responsibilities (e.g.,
Survey Methodologist, Sampling Statistician, Data Manager, Data Analyst).
Familiarity with econometric methods for evaluation and with advanced
statistical analytics.
Experience in the design and implementation of electronic data collection
systems using tools such as Open Data Kit (ODK) Collect/Aggregate.
Strong interpersonal communication, writing, and oral skills in both
English and French.
Interest or experience in capacity building/training in evaluation
research and related matters.
Ability to succinctly communicate complex research rationales, designs,
and learning both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
Detail-orientated.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent scientific writing and presentation skills, with good track
record in peer-review publications and conference presentations.
Experience working on or leading proposal development in survey research.
• Experience working in countries in the West and Central Africa region.
Familiarity with US-funded projects and the ability to effectively
coordinate with U.S. government agencies, and other technical
organizations.
