Job Purpose:
The Legal Counsel for Francophone and Lusophone Africa is responsible for providing general legal advice to businesses within a cluster of countries (Express: Cameroon, Burkina Faso, Chad, Central African Republic & Burundi). The role involves working with a supervisor to define and recommend legal strategies and objectives to mitigate the organization’s legal exposure and implement top-tier legal processes and procedures to assure business objectives are met and legal risks are mitigated.
Key Tasks:
Provide general legal advice, including contract (customer and vendor) support to businesses served.Advise members of the business on legal and related risks associated with DPDHL’s operations in the area of responsibility.Analyze and interpret case law, court reports, and proposed/existing laws and regulations.Prepare legal contracts, letters of agreement, and other documents related to trade, commercial, financial, and operational matters.Advise business on legal trends and developing areas of law.Manage internal and external legal spend in the area of responsibility.Defend the organization’s legal interests in litigation and claims in own area of responsibility.Assist with budget preparation for the legal function in the area of responsibility.Stay updated with legal technology and its potential use in delivering legal services.Qualifications & Key Requirements:
